The Italian Art Deco chandelier, built the way it was built in 1930.

Ribbed brass tiers, fluted column arms, eight candle lights spiraling inward from the body, nine frosted glass up-cones around the circumference, and a frosted glass bowl diffuser beneath — the full vocabulary of Italian Novecento lighting, proportioned for a dining room rather than a hotel lobby. This is not an Art Deco "inspired" chandelier. It's a piece built in the actual design language of the 1922–1943 Novecento Italiano movement, when Italian designers were defining what formal lighting should look like for the century that was just beginning.

Where it actually belongs:

• Above a formal dining table seating 10–14, in a room with 11+ ft ceilings. The 42" diameter holds the table; the 17 lights do the actual illumination without needing supplementary fixtures.
• In a single-story foyer or entry with 11+ ft ceilings, hung at whatever drop puts the lowest point of the bowl roughly 7 ft above the floor.
• Centered in a formal living room in a traditional, transitional, or authentic period interior. Pre-war apartments, 1920s-30s homes, and hotel-residential conversions are where this piece was designed to live.
• In a library, study, or billiards room where the warm brass and the downward glass bowl create the kind of light you read and pour a drink under.
• Above a hotel lobby sitting area or a residential great room where the period-accurate detail matters more than contemporary minimalism.

About the design.

The Novecento is built around three Art Deco design signatures, each present and proportioned correctly:

The ribbed brass body — the horizontal banding that defines the chandelier's silhouette — is machined rather than stamped. You can see the parallel reeding if you look up at it from below, and the banding catches room light across its full circumference, which is why a real Art Deco chandelier has presence even before you turn it on.

The fluted column arms are true vertical columns, not tube rods pretending to be columns. Each column supports one up-cone glass shade and one candle arm, doubled up in pairs around the body — a signature Novecento detail that creates the dense, rhythmic presence of 1920s Italian lighting.

The frosted glass components — nine outer up-cones and one large under-bowl — are the piece's light sources. The up-cones throw warm light upward onto the ceiling (the characteristic Art Deco "ceiling wash" effect), and the under-bowl diffuses the inner candle lights downward onto the table. The combination is the reason Art Deco dining rooms read as warm: light comes from multiple directions at once, so no surface in the room is unlit.

The brass.

Solid brass construction, finished by hand. The default finish is bronze — a rich, warm tone that pulls red from the brass and reads as aged rather than new. Available also in copper (warmer, pinker), matte black (for contemporary interiors that want the Art Deco silhouette without the warm metal), and chrome (for deco-era rooms that lean toward the Manhattan/Gatsby register rather than the Milano/Ponti register).

All finishes are unlacquered. The bronze and copper finishes will deepen over years of use; the black and chrome hold their finish longer but still develop character over time.

The adjustable drop.

Rod + chain suspension, fully adjustable at installation between 46 inches (3.8 ft) and 96 inches (8 ft) total height. This is the widest drop range in our catalog — it's built into the fixture so the same piece works for an 11 ft ceiling and a 14 ft ceiling, with the electrician setting the right height for the specific room.

Finish customization — included, not an upcharge.

Bronze is the default. Copper, matte black, or chrome finishes are available at no additional cost — specify at checkout. Non-standard finishes add 3–4 weeks to lead time.
