The white is soft, closer to ivory and unbleached linen than to a cold optical white, and it sits easily beside pale oak, limewash, plaster, travertine and white stone. The weave carries over the top of the frame as well as the sides, so the piece reads as finished from a staircase or mezzanine above.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe frame\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe strands are wrapped over solid copper rather than steel wire. Copper does not rust, so nothing bleeds through to mark the fibre over the years. Hang the base 75 to 90 cm (30 to 35\") above the surface. At 28 cm (11\") wide it stays slim over a narrow island and keeps sightlines open across a table. Over an island or table longer than about 3 m (10 ft), two hung in line read better than one.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eSuspension\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt hangs from a slim rectangular canopy on two stems wrapped in the same white fibre, 50 cm (19.7\") as standard. With the standard stems the overall drop is about 85 cm (33.5\"), which suits ceilings of 2.4 to 2.7 m (8 to 9 ft) over a table or island. Shorter or longer stems are made to order for lower or higher ceilings. It is still a filtered, ambient light rather than a hard downlight. Warm white LED at 2700K, around 8 to 10 W each (800 to 1,000 lumens), gives a comfortable level over a table. Bulbs are not included. Rattan belongs in dry interiors: it is at home in a kitchen with good extraction, but not directly over a hob or in a bathroom.
