scalloped-opal-glass-flush-mount-brass-clscl039
Scalloped Opal Glass Flush Mount | Brass Knot Finial | CLSCL039

This flush mount is a deep bowl of opal glass formed into soft scalloped petals, gathered at the base by a small hand-tied brass knot and closed against the ceiling by a brass canopy. It has the presence of a pendant with none of the drop, and the glass reads as a single creamy object whether the light is on or off.

The glass

The opal glass is white through its body, so the lamp disappears and the whole shade glows evenly, deepening slightly along each fold of the scallop. Lit at 2700K it takes on a warm, almost apricot tone; cooler light turns it flat and grey. Warm white is part of the design on this piece.

Two sizes

The medium is 38.6 cm (15.2") across and 27.3 cm (10.75") deep, on a 15 cm (5.9") canopy: right for a bedroom, a dressing room or a corridor. The large is 59.1 cm (23.25") across and 27.9 cm (11") deep, on a 44 cm (17.3") canopy, and is made to anchor a dining room, a living room or a generous entrance hall. Both sit deeper than a slim drum, so allow a ceiling of at least 2.4 m (8 ft).

Lamping and installation

E12 lamp holder (E14 outside North America). Warm white LED at 2700K. The medium weighs 4.7 kg (10.35 lb) and the large 10.4 kg (22.92 lb); the large should be fixed to a joist or reinforced box by a qualified electrician.

Care

Switch off and let the lamp cool. Dust with a soft dry cloth; wipe the glass with a damp microfibre cloth and a little mild cleaner applied to the cloth. Wipe the brass dry, with no polish or abrasives.

Specifications

Medium: Ø 38.6 cm × H 27.3 cm (Ø 15.2" × H 10.75"), canopy 15 cm (5.9"), 4.7 kg (10.35 lb)

Large: Ø 59.1 cm × H 27.9 cm (Ø 23.25" × H 11"), canopy 44 cm (17.3"), 10.4 kg (22.92 lb)

Materials: opal glass and brass

Lamping: E12 (E14 outside North America), bulbs not included

Mounting: flush ceiling installation, hardwired

Made to order

Every piece is made to order in our workshop.
