tapered-glass-floor-lamp-green-glass-cltpg161g
Tapered Glass Floor Lamp | Green Glass | CLTPG161G

Four moulded glass blocks in olive green, stacked one above the other in a slim brass frame, rise 160 cm (63") from a low veined stone plinth. Each block is pressed with a pillowed, pyramid-faced front and a hammered surface, and each has its own lamp behind it, so the column glows block by block rather than from a single point.

The glass

The green is in the glass itself, not a coating. By day it reads as a deep olive; lit, it turns to a warm chartreuse. The hammered texture breaks each lamp into a soft, moving light, and the thicker centre of every block glows brightest. Because the blocks are made by hand, tone and texture vary slightly from one to the next. That variation is part of the piece, not a fault.

The frame and base

The blocks sit in a brass frame, each held at its corners by four brass studs. The column stands on a 36 × 27 cm (14" × 11") plinth of black and white veined stone, which anchors it visually and keeps it steady.

Where it belongs

At 27 cm wide and 35 cm deep (11" × 14"), it takes less floor than a side table: beside a sofa, in the corner of a living room or bedroom, in an entrance, or as a pair flanking a doorway or a bar. It is an ambient, sculptural light meant to be seen from across the room, not a reading lamp. The olive glass looks richest against warm plaster, walnut or deep green walls.

Lamping

Four E27 lamps (E26 for North America), one behind each block, 9W maximum each. Bulbs are not supplied. Small frosted globe or tubular LED lamps at 2700K suit it best: warm light keeps the green rich and olive, while cool white light pushes it towards yellow. Use the same lamp in all four positions so the blocks glow evenly.

Delivery and set-up

The lamp weighs 26 kg (57 lb), and assembly is required on arrival. Unpack it with two people, stand it on a level floor and place it before final styling. It plugs into a wall socket and is wired for your country before dispatch.

Care

Dust the glass with a dry microfibre cloth; a barely damp cloth lifts marks from the textured faces if dried straight away. Wipe the brass and the stone with a dry cloth only. No ammonia glass sprays, abrasives or solvents.

Made to order

Each lamp is made after you order it. The same column is also made in clear and in amber glass, and glass tone and brass finish can be specified for projects. Trade clients can request drawings and project quantities through our trade program.

Before you order

Height and footprint. 160 cm (63 in) high, 27 cm (11 in) wide and 35 cm (14 in) deep, on a 36 × 27 cm stone base.
