Our Workshop: How Casalola Lamps Are Made
Casalola is an Italian-owned lighting brand. Every fixture we sell is designed by us, made to order in our own workshop, inspected by us and filmed for you before it leaves. This page shows how that happens.
Where Casalola lamps are made
Our workshop is in Zhongshan, in Guangdong, China. It is Casalola's own production, run under our direct supervision: we choose the materials, set the specifications, approve every prototype and inspect every finished piece. Our founder travels there regularly and works with the team in Mandarin, on the workshop floor, not through an agent.
We chose Zhongshan because it is one of the world's great centres of lighting manufacture, with generations of stone-carving, metalwork and glass-blowing skill concentrated in one place. That skill, combined with Italian design and genuine materials, is what makes a Casalola piece possible at its price. It is also why we say so openly: a lamp made in our own workshop is the opposite of a lamp bought from a catalogue after the order comes in.
Genuine materials, chosen by us
Hand-carved alabaster, solid brass and copper, travertine, hand-poured and Murano-style glass, linen, rattan and ceramic. Nothing synthetic, no faux alabaster. Because these are natural materials, every piece carries its own veining, texture and colour; no two are identical. Material certificates are available on request.
Made to order
We do not hold finished lamps in stock. Production begins about two days after your order is placed and takes 2–3 weeks for a standard piece; custom and artisanal commissions take about two months to delivery. Production time and transit time are separate, and both are stated on every product page.
Customisation is part of how we work: drop length, metal finish, alabaster veining, rigid rod in place of chain, cable colour and colour temperature, at no surcharge on most models. For anything beyond that, we draw a blueprint and send it to you for confirmation before production begins.
Built for your destination
Each lamp is wired for the country it is going to: voltage, plug standard and the applicable electrical configuration are set from your shipping address. Fixtures for the United States are supplied with UL-listed drivers and LED components; CE documentation is available for every fixture. Certification is stated per product on our Certifications & Compliance page.
Bench-tested, then filmed for you
Before packing, every fixture is checked for structure, finish and electrical function with the lamp lit. Then we film it. On request, you receive a video of your actual completed lamp, lit and working, free of charge, before it ships. It is the simplest way we know to show you exactly what is in the crate.
Crated and insured
Alabaster and glass do not forgive a careless journey, so each piece travels in a reinforced wooden crate with foam suspension, following packing procedures written specifically for transit vibration. Every shipment is fully insured and shipped DDP, with duties stated transparently. Every fixture carries a two-year warranty.
