Amber Murano-Style Glass Chandelier

Warm amber glass in the mid-century tradition.

A two-tier chandelier built around dozens of hand-blown amber glass discs, mounted to a solid brass ring structure with a central amber bowl diffuser beneath. The design follows the mid-century chandeliers of the 1960s and 70s. Amber does something no other glass tone does: it casts warm light on a room without tinting it, giving an amber glow to skin and fabric while keeping whites reading as whites and wood tones reading true.

The Ambra is built to a lifetime spec: solid brass (not plated), hand-blown glass (not pressed), concealed hardware (not exposed screws). It belongs equally in mid-century homes, contemporary interiors and warm-toned transitional architecture.

Where it belongs

60cm (24"): over a 6-seat round dining table at 9–11ft ceilings; above a 5–6ft kitchen island in a warm or walnut kitchen; a mid-century primary bedroom; a library or study with wood and leather; a smaller formal dining room with honey-toned stone.

80cm (31.5"): over an 8-seat dining table at 10–12ft ceilings — the most-requested size; above an 8ft island; centred in a primary living room; above a billiard table or long bar; a hotel lobby or restaurant with mid-century references.

100cm (39.4"): over a 10–12 seat dining table at 11–14ft ceilings; a great room with walnut floors and stone fireplace; a double-height foyer; a boutique hotel lobby or private club dining room where the amber glow reads as deliberate curation.

About the glass. The discs are hand-blown in the Murano tradition — not pressed, not machine-formed. We say Murano-style rather than Murano as an honest designation: the glass is blown using traditional Venetian techniques (amber oxides at the furnace, each disc hand-pulled from the molten glass, every piece individually fired), but it is not made on the island of Murano. Each disc varies in amber saturation, surface texture and light transmission — matched discs are the mark of machine-pressed glass; varied discs are the mark of real hand-blowing.

About the brass. The frame, chain and all hardware are solid brass — not plated, not coated. At up to 42kg of hand-hung glass, plated hardware would reveal itself as the plating wore under load; solid brass is the only spec that ages without failing. We leave it unlacquered, so over years of use the finish deepens into a warmer, richer patina — what separates a lifetime piece from a disposable one.

Proportioned for serious architecture. Built at generous dimensions: substantial disc diameter, two tiers of glass, and a central bottom bowl that catches and redistributes light downward. The 100cm at 39 inches isn't an oversized reproduction — it's the scale at which this design was always meant to live.

Chain and drop. Solid brass chain, 60cm (23.6") standard, fully customizable — specify your ceiling height at order and we ship to requirement at no additional fee (we've shipped this design to 22ft stairwells on custom 4-metre chain).

The light. Multiple E12 candelabra bulbs illuminate the fixture from within; LED candelabra recommended for lower heat (which protects the amber glass long-term) and longer life. Warm-white LED (2700–3000K) passes through the amber and casts a deeper honey-gold tone — the fixture's signature.
