A gathered shape, suspended in linen.

Natural linen, hand-draped and held in sculptural folds, suspended from three dark stainless-steel chains that meet at a single point above. The piece reads as a softened bowl — the scalloped edge curling upward, the pleating running vertically down the sides, the whole silhouette catching light from inside and diffusing it downward through the fabric. Off, it reads as a piece of sculpted cloth. On, it becomes the warmest piece of lighting in the room.

The Sabina isn't an alabaster fixture or a crystal fixture or a brass statement piece. It's the quiet counter-note to all of those — the fixture for rooms that want softness rather than architecture, for interiors that prioritize texture and atmosphere over formality.

Where it belongs

40cm (16"): over a small breakfast table (4 seats), hung so the lowest point of the linen sits ~32" above the tabletop; centred above a reading chair or small console; in a powder room with 9ft+ ceilings; in a small entry or mudroom where the warm linen glow greets arrivals.

60cm (24"): over a 6-seat dining table in a room with 9–11ft ceilings; centred above a primary bed as a canopy-style element; in a home office, study or library where it reads quieter than a brass fixture; above a soaking tub set well outside the damp zone (linen is not damp-rated).

80cm (31.5"): over an 8-seat dining table in a room with 10–12ft ceilings — the sweet spot for wabi-sabi and Japandi dining rooms; above an 8ft kitchen island in a soft-modern or organic-modern kitchen; centred in a primary bedroom or meditation room; in a wellness or spa-adjacent space.

100cm (39"): over a 10–12-seat dining table in a room with 11–14ft ceilings; centred in a great room with limewashed walls and natural wood; in a boutique hotel lobby, restaurant or hospitality space where the soft, sculpted presence reads as intentional; above a long rustic table where a metal or stone chandelier would read too formal.

About the linen. The shade is 100% natural linen — hand-draped, sculpted into gathered folds, and hand-finished in our workshop. Linen is the honest material choice here: a natural fibre that softens with age, holds its pleating because of the way the fabric was woven and tensioned, and diffuses light warmly through its weave. Every Sabina is hand-gathered, so no two drape identically — the position of the folds, the depth of the scalloped edge, the way it catches light. We consider that the point rather than a problem.

Light behaviour. Three E26 bulbs sit inside the linen dome, arranged to distribute light evenly through the fabric. Linen is moderately translucent — enough to glow from within, opaque enough to keep the bulbs from showing through as hot spots. The result is a soft, warm, evenly diffused glow that falls mostly downward through the open bottom. LED strongly recommended (lower heat, longer linen life); at 6–9W actual draw the fabric stays pristine for decades. Dimming matters on this piece especially: at 20–30% the linen glows like a lantern from within, which is where it's most beautiful.

Aesthetic compatibility. Sabina was designed for specific registers, not as a universal fixture: wabi-sabi (beauty in imperfection and natural materials — linen's drape and variation is textbook); Japandi (soft natural fabric + dark metal hardware is the exact palette); organic modern (architectural silhouette, organic material); boutique hotel (reads bespoke rather than catalogue); Mediterranean / coastal (pairs with limewash, travertine, natural wood, linen upholstery). It does not work in formal traditional, Art Deco, high-contrast modern, industrial or glamour-forward rooms — it earns its place through softness, the opposite language of those registers.

Hardware. Three black stainless-steel chains support the dome from a central point — stainless rather than plated iron so the finish won't chip, flake or rust. The matte black grounds the composition and keeps the hardware from competing with the linen. Standard chain suits most 9–12ft ceilings; extended chain available on request.
