A gathered shape, suspended in linen.

Natural linen, hand-draped and held in sculptural folds, suspended from three dark stainless steel chains that meet in a single point above. The piece reads as a softened bowl — the scalloped edge curling upward, the pleating running vertically down the sides, the whole silhouette catching light from inside and diffusing it downward through the fabric. Off, it reads as a piece of sculpted cloth. On, it becomes the warmest piece of lighting in the room.

The Sabina isn't an alabaster fixture or a crystal fixture or a brass statement piece. It's the quiet counter-note to all of those — the fixture for rooms that want softness rather than architecture, for interiors that prioritize texture and atmosphere over formality.

About the linen.

The shade is 100% natural linen — hand-draped, sculpted into gathered folds, and hand-finished in our workshop. Linen is the honest material choice for this piece: a natural fiber that softens with age, holds its pleating because of the way the fabric was woven and tensioned, and diffuses light warmly through its natural weave.

Every Sabina is hand-gathered, which means no two pieces drape identically. The position of the folds, the depth of the scalloped edge, the specific way the linen catches light — each piece is its own interpretation of the design. We consider this the point rather than a problem. Matched fabric is what comes off a factory line; varied fabric is what comes from a hand-finishing process.

Light behavior.

Three E26 bulbs sit inside the linen dome, arranged to distribute the light evenly through the fabric. Linen is moderately translucent — it transmits enough light to glow from within, but it's opaque enough to prevent hot spots from the bulbs showing through. The result is a soft, warm, evenly diffused glow that falls mostly downward through the open bottom of the fixture.

Important: LED bulbs strongly recommended (lower heat, longer linen life). Incandescent or halogen bulbs at full 60W can cause fabric yellowing over time. With LED equivalents at 6–9W actual draw, the fabric stays pristine for decades.

Aesthetic compatibility.

Sabina was designed for specific interior registers, not as a universal fixture:

• Wabi-sabi — Japanese-origin philosophy of beauty in imperfection, asymmetry, and natural materials. Linen's inherent drape and organic variation is a textbook wabi-sabi material.
• Japandi — hybrid of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian functionality. Soft natural fabric + dark metal hardware is the exact material palette of the Japandi movement.
• Organic modern — warm natural materials (wood, linen, limewash, rattan) paired with clean contemporary forms. Sabina's silhouette is architectural; its material is organic.
• Boutique hotel — the hospitality tier that prioritizes texture and atmosphere over formal elegance. Sabina appears in high-end hotel lobbies, restaurants, and spa spaces because it reads as bespoke rather than catalog.
• Mediterranean / coastal — the linen and soft silhouette pair well with limewashed walls, travertine floors, natural wood, and linen upholstery.

Sabina does not work in: formal traditional, Art Deco, high-contrast modern, industrial, or glamor-forward interiors. This piece earns its place through softness, which is the opposite language of those registers.

About the hardware.

Three black stainless steel chains support the linen dome from a central suspension point. Stainless steel rather than plated iron because the finish won't chip, flake, or rust over years. The matte black finish grounds the composition and keeps the hardware from competing with the linen visually.

Standard chain length accommodates most 9–12 ft ceiling installations. Extended chain available on request for higher ceilings — specify at checkout.

Dimmable on standard TRIAC 120V — works with Lutron Caseta, standard US residential dimmers, and most home automation systems. Dimming is especially important for this fixture: at full brightness the linen reads warm and bright; dimmed to 20–30%, the linen glows like a lantern from within, which is where the piece is most beautiful.
